Research with positron emission tomography requires software development in each step, from running the cyclotrons and radionuclide synthesis devices to the PET scanners as well as the data analyses and storage. Software is the corner stone of Good PET Practice as it makes both GMP, GLP and GCP feasible, but the software development processes themselves are also subject to quality systems. This is evident from the scientific presentations in the Software Development session, as well as in the commercial exhibition of the Symposium. Hopefully, in future medical imaging conferences the software developers will have even more opportunities for education and to meet other developers, potential collaborators and software end users.

TPC C# project

Turku PET Centre is migrating from C to C# and to using MS Visual Studio and .NET as the software development platform (Tips for installation and use). The bulk of the C libraries are already ported to C# (TPCLib), but for the moment only few programs are available as C#/.NET versions.

Software Development Session in Turku PET Symposium

Software Development Session was held in parallel with the scientific programme of XI Turku PET Symposium on 26 May, 2008, and we're planning to do it again in the next Symposium, year 2011.
