Software developed at Turku PET Centre are available on a network drive in TPC network. Network drive is the '''''number one''''' source of executable software for SUN/Solaris and PC/Windows users inside TPC network. Users outside TPC network need to install software locally via internet resource. Follow the instructions below if your workstation is inside TPC network.

== SUN/Solaris (UNIX/Linux) ==
Most programs can be used on UNIX/Solaris 10 workstations without any installation.

== PC/Windows ==
Most analysis programs can be used in your PC/Windows command prompt window after a one-time installation for adding the executable program directory to your path settings.

If the network paths '''\\pet-storage\petsoftware''' and '''\\pet-storage\pet''' are automatically mapped as drives P: and S:, respectively (as they should be in Windows workstation at TPC) you can start from step 6.

'''Notice!''' If there is the old network drive; \\atas12\pc\softa, or \\atas12\petsoftware configured on the workstation one should remove all the environment variables related to that, prior configuring \\pet-storage folders. This is done to avoid collisions between program names and versions.

   1. Click the right mouse button over icon "Verkkoympäristö"
   2. Select "Yhdistä verkkoasemaan"
   3. Enter drive letter P:, network path \\pet-storage\petsoftware and select "valmis"
   4. Enter your username and password if they are asked
   5. Map also network path \\pet-storage\pet as drive S:
   6. Open "Käynnistä" menu
   7. Select "Asetukset" and double click "Ohjauspaneeli"
   8. Select "Järjestelmä", "Lisäasetukset" and "Ympäristömuuttujat"
   9. From the upper list, select "PATH" and click "Muokkaa", or if it does not exist, then create it with "Uusi"
  10. Add the string
      ;P:\bin\windows
      to the end of the list
  11. Click Ok three times

After these steps, you can open a new command prompt window by selecting "Käynnistä", "Ohjelmat", "Apuohjelmat" and "Komentorivi". You can then run the programs in this window. Try for example command patlak.

If you are connecting your own laptop to hospital network and running .NET 2.0 software from P: drive, you may need to give permission for Windows to run .NET software across network. You need admin password to run this command:

MSYS is an extension to Windows command prompt including very usefull subset of UNIX commands and tools (e.g. ls, awk, grep, diff, sh etc.). '''MSYS''' is installed in the same network drive with TPC software. If the petsoftware directory is mapped in drive P:, MSYS command prompt can be found in directory P:\bin\util\MSYS. Make a shortcut to '''msys.bat''' as shown in the following picture.

MSYS is started by double-clicking shortcut in workstation desktop. Following picture shows a typical session with MSYS - directory is changed with "cd dirname" where dirname is "/drive-letter/fol1/fol2", dirname shall not contain backslash (\), TPC software roilist is run and the output is directed to awk and grep.
